Job Description The Director of Raw Materials will be responsible for implementing the strategy and processes needed for short and long-range forecasting and planning of raw materials.
This vision of the role is to focus on leading, managing and pursuing process initiatives for understanding raw material ownership, shelf life, and projection of all raw material quantities needed across the business.
We are looking for a candidate with exceptional leadership skills who pays great attention to detail, with proven ability to execute and deliver against product timelines.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Working directly with raw material suppliers on capacity planning, unlocks, capabilities, and strategic implementation of fabric and yarn positioning.
Manage fabric ownership and work with mills to strategically position and project on core fabrications and yarn.
Identify opportunities for operational improvements, streamline processes, and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Reporting out on raw material lead-times and speed capabilities Defining dashboards needed for communicating fabric ownership to key stakeholders in the business.
Support with solutions as needed to ensure yardage is available at key milestone dates.
Be the point person for all fabric related issues, including issues such as ownership, payment terms, invoicing and reconciliation.
Own raw materials internal processes, communication flow and record-keeping.
Have a continuous improvement mindset of the Raw Material Planning function, driving toward automation of transactional tasks, error-proofing existing processes, and influencing mills to maintain or improve existing materials management processes.
Work closely with cross functional partners within Production, Merchandise Planning, Product Development, and Raw Material Development and Technical teams.
Collaborate with leaders on establishing calendar milestones and facilitate risk assessment as needed throughout the development, planning and buying process.
Qualifications 10
years of experience in a Raw Materials, Planning, Operations, Textiles, or Project Management role preferably within a Sourcing organization.
Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the apparel/ textile industry.
Must have experience working in best-in-class fabric/trim manufacturing - knitting, dyeing, finishing, printing mills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, leaders and stakeholders.
Results-driven mindset, with a keen eye for detail and a sense of urgency in driving process improvements.
Excellent presentation skills and experience presenting to Executive Leadership teams.
Advanced technical knowledge in fiber, yarn, fabric, knitting, weaving, dyeing, finishing, lead times, shelf life and capacity planning.
Knowledge of lab testing, global and commercial fabric testing criteria.
Experience with large scale organization transformations a plus.
Additional Information Pay Range:
$150,000 - $190,000
